One word to describe Sakura Hanami is “eyecandy”. Manila’s newest milk tea is both figuratively and literally sweet with its floral-flavored drinks.
In Japanese “hanami” refers to flower watching, which is a favorite past-time in spring, especially when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom. Sakura Hanami took the theme seriously to recreate the height of spring. Adorned with a cherry blossom tree, pink peacock chairs, and a wall full of pink roses, Sakura Hanami’s pink glow is a stark difference from the rest of Maginhawa’s plain-looking establishments.
Their bestseller is the White Sakura Milk Tea (PHP 160 L/ PHP 180 XL). I love how the milk is so creamy and rich. It reminded me a bit of Hershey’s Cookies and Cream Chocolate Nuggets. As recommended by the staff, I added the Sakura Pudding (PHP 30) which further heightened the flavor.
The mesmerizing Lava Pearl Latte (PHP 125 L/ PHP 165 XL) has black sugar pearls which swirl around the same creamy Hershey’s White Chocolate-like milk before finally settling at the bottom.
Intrigued by the concept of bursting pearls, I added the Yoghurt Pearl (PHP 30) to the Hanami Yakult (PHP 120), and I must say they went really well together! The drink starts out tart, but smooths out when you start to salivate.
A pink syrupy, fizzy drink, the Cherry Blossom Fizz Tea (PHP 140 L/ PHP 160 XL) has edible flowers in the drink.
Not only is Sakura Hanami instagrammable, but the cherry blossom-flavored drinks are unique! Definitely a must-try!
