Renowned Singaporean Putien Restaurant has officially opened on the 5/F of The Podium Mall, Ortigas this November 15, 2019! Specializing in Hokkien or Fujian cuisine, this Michelin-star restaurant serves delicacies from the Fujian province. While it has a huge seating capacity with some private rooms, be sure to call for a reservation at 8282-1888 or 8282-6888!
Seaweed with Mini Shrimps Dressed with Sauce: Something that I call “Mermaid Hair”, the 15-cm long seaweed is harvested within 30 days of cultivation to maintain its nutrition and texture. Tossed with quality mini shrimps imported from the South China Sea region, this top-grade seaweed dish has a mild piquant note.
Cold Pork Trotters Jelly: My personal favorite for containing collagen, this cold jelly is made of pig’s feet or “pettitoe”. I used to have this Xiamen whenever I visited relatives there.
Braised Pig Intestine: Flavored with Putien’s “12 Spice” house sauce, the 12-inch pork intestines are meticulously washed, looped, cooked and extended into “9 Fold” intestines that have a springy texture.
100-second Stewed Yellow Croaker: Imported from the Taiwan Strait, the Yellow Croaker is stewed with ginger in exactly 100 seconds. Best known for its tender and boneless texture, the Yellow Croaker leaves a fresh and light taste to the discerning palate.
Chicken in Fermented Red Glutinous Rice Wine: Whenever my Kong Kong and Ama had lugaw or rice congee, they would either have pickled cucumber or soybean curd fermented in sweet rice wine. I know it sounds gross, and it probably tastes gross for most people, but it was love at first taste. Let’s just say I like funky flavors. Anyway, imagine having tender chicken legs in the same thick sauce made of fermented glutinous rice wine! It was kind of runny by the time we had it because the kitchen had to add more rice wine when they reheated it.
Putien Century Egg: I love century egg, and Putien takes it to the next level by deep-frying it in a sweet and sour crust, topped with homemade specialty sauce. The yolk was kind of dry by the team we ate it because we had it reheated after our photoshoot.
Putien Lor Mee: The silky Putien noodles are served with pork belly, prawn and clam braised in a rich pork broth.
