After lunch at Cafe Voi La in Tagaytay, we drove further south around Taal Lake to Noni’s Resort in Batangas for a chill retreat over the long weekend. Noni’s Batangas Resort has an amazing view of Taal Lake with heated infinity pools and suites. (Check their website here: https://www.nonisresort.com.ph/)
Getting to Noni’s Resort in Alitagtag Batangas becomes a challenge once you turn off the main road. The narrow path that passes through a small provincial neighborhood only allows one car at a time, so if may nakasalubong kayo, then one of you would have to give way.
The reception handed out wifi voucher codes to which multiple decided can connect. However, the router went offline after some point in the night which didn’t get resolved for the rest of our stay.
We were led to our Taal View Room on the 3rd floor whose windows were panaromic view of Taal Lake to the right and the resort to the left. It was a side of Taal I haven’t seen before.
The housekeeping ladies were super nice. They toured us around our Taal View Room, which had 1 King Bed, 1 Queen Sofa Bed and 2 Single Sofa Beds. Our flat screen came with a TV Box and a surround sound system. After walking us through the Taal View Room and all its features, they said we could visit the Talisay Room after we check out the following day.
The bathroom was very spacious. It had a dresser, a sink, a urinal, a toilet with bidet, a bath tub and a rain shower. Bath towels, shampoo, conditioner and body wash are provided. However, there was mildew on the rubber mats. There are also red ants everywhere. I left my clothes on the bathroom counter and found a few stray ants on them. Same thing for my toiletries and the bed. They were everywhere!
Red and I checked the swimming pools which were empty when we got there.
It was 8 PM by the time we had dinner. Each dish is good for 2 persons. The fried ones like the Crispy Tawilis, Lechon Kawali and Tuna Sisig cost at least PHP 250 to PHP 350 while the sauce-based dishes like the Cheesy Beef Caldereta cost PHP 400 to PHP 550. I wanted the Kare Kare but saw that it was PHP 800! Our total cost was around PHP 350 for a modest meal. This would be charged to our room along with the snacks for the chill inuman.
Noni’s room rates include PHP 300/person consumable which you can use on food and drinks. Soda bottles (PHP 150/ 1L) come with ice, but a bag of ice is PHP 40 on its own. A 30g bag of chips is PHP 45 which is robbery but it was logistically inconvenient to leave the resort. I would suggest buying all your snacks and drinks before coming to the resort.
Breakfast Buffet quality wasn’t good. We just had really tough pork tocino. It looked like tocino; the guy behind the buffet table said it was tocino, but it tasted like beef tocino or pork tapa. We were also served fish heads which barely had meat. Mine looked so mangled by the end of the meal because I really tried to look for something in the fish head.
After breakfast, we toured the rest of the property. While the Taal Suite has the best view of Taal Lake, you can get Talisay Cabin for a few thousand more pesos but with a private heated pool. The triangular cabin has a queen bed and a pull-out sofa on the first floor. There’s a retractable leader leading to a tiny attic with a queen mattress for one more person. Personally, I think that having 3-4 persons is cozy, but maxing out the capacity to 5 persons is a bit crowded.
We checked out the Sta. Rita and the Sta. Teresita Villas as well. They had proper 2BR suites, including a kitchen and a dining room. Each villa has its own private heated infinity pool as well, but bigger.
