Long before Poblacion happened, Kite Kebab Bar has been on scene since 2015 with Chef Kian Kazemi churning out Persian hits. This May 2019, Kite Kebab Makati relocated to a much larger space with two floors and better furnishings along Durban Street right next to LOBO Filipino Tavern, which is also run by Chef Kian Kazemi. KKB can be recognized for being both a family-friendly and a chill inuman place in the heart of Poblacion.
When asked why he picked the name “Kite”, Chef Kian said it was because a kite flies highest against the wind current. Kite Kebab Bar is a reminder of his family’s story of overcoming adversities in their journey to success.
As a bar, Kite has a wide array of cocktails and beers (local and imported) with its signature Kite Beer made with Kombucha and Red Horse Beer.
The Mezze Sampler has all the best sides in one platter: Vegetarian Samosa (3 pcs), Falafel (3 pcs), Hummus and Mouttabal with a homemade Greek-style Yogurt Dip.
We were introduced with a new dish called Bademjun which Chef Kian had to personally type into this post. It’s a vegan eggplant dish with caramelized onions best eaten with pita bread.
I really liked the Pomegranate Chicken, a Persian roast chicken jazzed up with pomegranate seeds and kang kong. It vaguely reminds me of chicken adobo but with a different kick.
Served with beef balls, the Beef Biryani is a savory rice dish that deviates from the usual fragrant spices I associate with biryani.
The grilled Chicken Tandoori was surprisingly juicy unlike most of its counterparts.
Ox Tongue, Beef Keema and Classic Kebab
The surprisingly light and pleasantly sweet Yogurt Milkshake is well-balanced. I thought having an entire glass would spoil my appetite but it didn’t.
