We took shelter from the rain in a lit brunch spot along High Street BGC: Caffe Freddo. Between columns painted with vibrant green leaves and under warm wood ceilings, we were welcomed by delectable pastries and was invited to dine on their comfortable green chairs and fresco white tables. The open concept of the place with a wide window for maximum natural light encourages great Instagram moments.
Brought to us by the same people behind The Spa Wellness and BonChon, Caffe Freddo serves Bluestone Lane Brooklyn-brewed premium beans from New York City. Owner Scott Tan liked this Melbourne-inspired coffee shop so much that he decided to bring over their Australian-style beans to Manila for everyone to enjoy.
First up, we had an Ube Freddo (PHP 170) served with a metal straw which is creamy, irresistible, and environmentally conscious.
Next, we sampled their all-day brunch menu created by Swiss Chef Markus Gfeller and started with their Mediterranean Eggs (PHP 330). Made with two poached eggs, tomatoes, pickles, hummus, tzatziki, greens, and grilled sourdough the Mediterranean inspired dish is both healthy and flavorful.
Our personal favorite, the Lox & Rosti (PHP 380) is the ideal brunch dish made with tasty cured salmon, crispy Swiss potato cake, poached egg, and vegetable preserves.
Topped with smoked bacon, olives, feta, and roasted peppers, the Flatbread (PHP 380) is a good filler if you want something light, fresh and classic.
