The chill of the wind and the increasing frequency of rain signifies the inevitable: summer is almost over. As much as we would hate to see it go, we have to embrace the truth and look forward to better places to escape to. As the name implies, “Sol Y Viento” harmonized us with the sun and the wind of the southern highlands. Sol Y Viento Mountain Hotspring Resorts, Inc., is a 12-hectare mountain spring resort located in Km. 55 Makiling Heights Brgy. Pansol, Calamba City, Laguna, situated on top of a hill over-looking 3 scenic spots: Laguna de Bay, Mount Makiling and the Metro Manila City skyline.
With a sweet mishmash of the natural nature, the resort acquaints its guests not only with the refreshing combination of earth and sky but also the revitalizing prowess of mountain spring water. Uniquely designed swimming pools, nestled right amidst the mountain range and the bay compels guests for hours of night swimming delight.
Sol Y Viento Pansol Hotel is the first and only professionally managed resort in the province of Laguna. The resort is under the helm of Sol Y Viento Hotels and Resorts owned by the University of Perpetual Help DALTA/JONELTA, a hospital and university magnate in the Philippines.
Sol Y Viento Pansol Hotel boasts of its natural supply of artesan hot spring mineral water oozing out from the legendary volcano–Mt. Makiling– noted to be natural therapeutic water. A reputation built from word of mouth testaments, echoed from travelers for well over a century. It has become part of routine medical cure for the treatment of a wide range of conditions — a fountain of power, pouring forth living waters, opening the pores of the skin, absorbing the immense mineral contents, reaching ones very complicated body cell system, nourishing it to life and keeping it healthy.
Our first impression of the resort is that off a vintage Swiss chalet style with newly appointed and stylishly designed rooms for couples, families and groups. On food and beverage, their restaurants offer delightful choices of culinary fusion featuring Asian-International dishes at Tamayo as well as astoundingly classic Filipino cuisine by Barrio Fiesta and Spanish-Filipino specialties at Cafe Sabroso.
There’s also the chill Fabero Bar that bid us to relax and relish to their house-blend cocktails while listening to easy music. For Filipino-American comfort food, they’ve got a Pancake House outlet serving all-day breakfast.
We stayed in one of their romantic lofts which came with impeccable amenities. We loved the persistent wood design, comfy atmosphere, and amazing view. It felt like a home away from home that aspire to a close-to-nature get-away place just outside the busy Metro.

At Sol Y Viento Pansol Hotel, we enjoyed their deluge of pool facilities. Most notably, their invigorating jacuzzi, hot pools and lagoon pool, brought us to a heavenly, indulging and salutary experience.
Albeit, there’s more to SYV than just hot springs. Just below the resort is Costa Tropical by Sol Y Viento which boasts 2 fully twisted water slides, a water pressure pool for families, a bar, and a dining area complete with a stage for bands.
On the eve of our visit, we were greeted by a live reggae band that set the mood for a relaxing and fun time with cocktails.
With the tagline “Where business works and leisure stays”, Sol Y Viento is positioned to be in the map of the most preferred destination in the South that provides delightful and reasonable experience.
