Work. Learn. Eat. The Lib (@thelib.mnl) at Katipunan looks like a great place to work, study, or just chill with friends. Originally a literal library for CCA, they designed the place just last year with guest comfort and functionality in mind. Owned by daughters of the Cravings Crew, Bea Trinidad and Pia Trinidad, they aimed to create a place where people can both work and relax. With high ceilings and lots of sunlight, The Lib offers ambience for clarity and focus. Up top, they’ve got a rooftop deck for events, and later this year there will be a co-working space for start up entrepreneurs. Best of all, they’ve got PLDT 5G FIBR hi-speed WiFi for one hour in exchange for one drink, one dish for two hours, and an extra PHP 50 will get you an additional hour to top it off. They’re open Monday to Saturday 10am to 10pm. Check them out for their eats, or stay for their inspiring work space.
With the help of Australian Chef Mike John and CCA Consultant Chef Lionel Go, they’ve recently updated their menu with new and exciting dishes.
A trip to The Lib isn’t complete with fueling up your work session with their tasty beverages. They’ve got all sorts of drinks, hot and cold, that’ll both quench your thirst and give you that extra kick you need to complete any project: Affogato (150), Bulletproof (180), Chocnut Coffee Shake (180), Matcha Oreo Shake (180).
Pair your drinks with Jamon Potato Bombs (PHP 90) and you’ve got yourself the perfect nibbles for those late night study sessions.
Their Smoothie Bowls are the ultimate light breakfast options that look good and will make you feel great. It’s a mix of toasted muesli, fruits, nuts and all the good stuff. We chose Strawberry Beets (PHP 180) and Kale Lover (PHP 180). We added chia seeds for an additional PHP 20.
The iconic Ultimate Grilled Cheese Jaffles (PHP 130) should be one of the dishes you have to try when you find yourself at The Lib. It’s slightly spicy, tangy, cheesy, and most all totally filling.
Their Ham and Cheese Toastie (PHP 180) is a great homage to the classic fit to fuel any food for thought.
If you’re like me and you like to work on a full and happy stomach, their Crispy Chicken Sandwich (PHP 180) is big and juicy! Munch on this if before any daunting task you need to tackle.
Hands down our favorite dish, their Mami’s Ramen (Pork – PHP 220) has a clean umami taste that embraced all of the ingredients giving the Ramen bowl a flavor that is both holistic and satisfying.
Complete with organic atsara, bean sprouts, cabbage and nori strips, Tapa Bulgogi (PHP 200) is jam packed with savory goodness. You get to pick the rice that goes with it. We chose kimchi rice to make it more Korean.
Naked Chocolate Caramel Cake (PHP 200) took us by surprise with its overwhelmingly rich chocolate and caramel center. A slice of this enough to satisfy your sweet tooth cravings.
