Celebrating its 6th anniversary this April 2018, Village Tavern introduces new southern-style American dishes in a Zomato Foodie Meet-up. From dough to sauce, all these comfort food were made from scratch!
I gobbled up the crispy thin Mushroom and Goat Cheese Flatbread (PHP 450), having more slices than my diet could allow. The margherita tomatoes were really fresh, providing a sweet, umami contrast against the creamy goat cheese. Ughhh!
My ultimate favorite had to be the Southern Shrimp and Grits (PHP 650). With my new diet consisting of mostly oats, I was no stranger to grits. On top of the crunchy scampi and bacon, what made Village Tavern’s version special was the subtle savor in the cream corn sauce, probably coming from the bacon grease. I would not mind having this for lunch every day.
Served with garlic mashed potato and sauteed French beans, the Braised Short Ribs (PHP 695) was one of the most tender ribs I’ve had in quite a while.
Last but not least, the Brick Chicken (PHP 525) was a well-seasoned, juicy slab of roast chicken.
I’ve been to Village Tavern several times, whether for dinner or for drinks, and I’ve got a good reason to keep coming back.
