Grab a cup of hot tsokolate to warm you and travel partner up on hand-carved wooden chairs amidst the fragrant trees. Choco-late de Batirol is a small and cozy nook hidden among the trees at the Igorot Park area near Gate 2 of Camp John Hay beside Baguio Country Club. Big surprise, Choco-late de Batirol is a cafe specializing in tsokolate drinks made with local cacao beans from the Cordillera.
Part of my master plan to woo Raina into a state of romantic bliss, I took her out for a walk into the woods with the intention of giving her some of that thick, local, hot, bittersweet choco. And the verdict? She loved it. Every sip of their signature drink warmed us up during that crisp, cloudy afternoon.
With a copper pot, the locals use a long piece of hard wood (also known to locals as, “batirol“) to whisk the tsokolate making it deliciously thick. You can enjoy their local cacao with a blend of interesting flavors.
If you find yourself in Baguio, make sure you stop by for a chocolate quickie in the woods. Choco-late de Batirol is an unconventional cafe where you can enjoy delightful hot drinks and meals while basking in the cozy and relaxing ambiance of nature.
