Situated at the corner of the main entrance and inside the famous EDSA Shangri-La Mall along the Restaurant Bistro Strip, the Wobbly Pan is a comfortable and homey joint with chill tunes making it the perfect place to unwind after a long work day. We were greeted by Guillermo Hernandez, the father of the restaurateur who named the place after an heirloom frying pan. The old cast-iron skillet has been passed on for generations beginning with her great grandfather of pure Spanish descent, who had been a restaurateur himself back in the day.
The choice of words is a strange one, but the name represent the fusion between old and new. The word “wobbly” means the consistent state of flux and evolution, while the “pan” symbolizes the archaic and traditional way of cooking with the use of the black cast-iron frying pans and skillets.
Wobbly Pan has tapas, creative steaks, appetite filling skillet meals, special burgers, signature cocktails, adult shakes, wine selections and beer. It aims to fill our diners’ “food-cravings” with three of their recommended dishes:
The Tortilla Chips with Queso Fundido (PHP 325) is made of homemade Spanish tortilla chips paired with a dip of hot melted cheese, manchego, and chorizo bits.
The Gambas Al Ajillo (PHP 349) is a sizzling treat for the senses! It’s made with spicy garlic shrimps in olive oil.
The Paella Valenciana (PHP 680) is made of Spanish rice with chorizo, clams, mussels, chicken, and shrimp.
The Paella Negra (PHP 620) is made of Spanish rice with squid ink topped with large squid, aioli, and paprika.
Wobbly Pan was the first stop of the #LoveAtTheShang food crawl and is a great choice to celebrate Valentine’s 2018!
