Get in the Flavor Zone at Wing Zone! Home of the Flavorholics, Dub-Z is a Hot-lanta based restaurant chain that specializes in home-style, deep-fried food…especially Buffalo Wings. (Duh!) What I like most about their wings is how the light batter maintains a crisp breading despite the exposure to sauce.
Wing Zone was founded in 1991 by Matt Friedman and Adam Scott, two students at the University of Florida. They took over their fraternity kitchen at nights and began developing their own techniques for creating original buffalo wings. Since then, Wing Zone has also won many awards, such as “National Festival Favorite” at the 2004 National Buffalo Wing Festival. Wing Zone was even featured on The Food Network’s Roker on the Road, Entrepreneur Magazine and others.
Brought to us by Viva International Food and Restaurant Group (the people behind Paper Moon Cafe and Botejyu), for the first time ever, Wing Zone opened on December 6, 2017 in the Philippines at The Atrium SM Megamall. Crashing their opening day with an empty stomach, my snack-hole and I had one mission: Veni, vidi, cenavi their original and boneless wings, and did it smoothly and efficiently like any gentleman would when scarfing down wings!
If you don’t want the wings in their original form, you can get them boneless, as tenders or in strips. Otherwise, you can also order drumsticks. It’s possible to mix and match flavors depending on how many pieces you get. 6 pieces (PHP 195 Original Wings, PHP 185 Boneless Wings) gets you one flavor, while getting 8 pieces (PHP 260 Original Wings, PHP 250 Boneless Wings) lets you try two flavors. They price the bleu cheese and ranch dressings separately at PHP 40 since you don’t really need it. The wings flavors are good on their own!
Wing Zone has 16 flavors to choose from. If you can’t decide which one you want, you can let the Spinning Flavor Wheel decide for you! You can apply it on literally anything you order–wings, drumsticks and burgers.
Sweet No Heat
Glazed with teriyaki honey soy, the Sweet Samurai is a perfect pair against the Nuclear Habanero!
The Liquid Gold is full of flavor made honey mustard that offers relief from those hot wings. Their Hot Shot brought the heat back with its bold Buffalo flavor! Try dipping these in Ranch or Bleu Cheese dip if you want to wing it with style.
Sweet and Spicy
The Mango Fire is hands down my favorite! Sweet, tangy, and spicy, these wings is the representation of mangoes’ furious side!
Their Thai Chili is an exotic fusion of spicy Thai plus sweet and sour that will excite your senses!
Wing Zone Favorites
The Lemon Zinger was my first pick and was definitely not disappointed. Fried naked, this classic blend of lemon pepper was super savory!
Dry Rub Flavors
Rubbed with Cajun spices, the crispy Blackened Voodoo has the distinct aroma of thyme amidst the salt, pepper, garlic, paprika and cayenne.
Traditional Buffalo Flavors
Their Nuclear Habanero lit the fuse in my mouth and blew my taste buds apart. If you’re not savvy with spicy, be wary of this seductively hot flavor.
Consistent and reigning champ of the National Buffalo Wing Festival, the Buffalo Bliss is an experience that you can’t miss out on.
Wing Zone’s seasoned wedge fries are lightly battered, making them extra crispy!
