If you find yourself in BF Homes, Parañaque make sure you check out this hidden gem and give their fresh take on pork and seafood Asian fusion cuisine a try! The Pig in the Sea by Swine and Swim is characterized by its unique interior which mixes comfort and style perfect for intimate get-together’s with friends, family, or significant others.
Swine and Swim owners Justin Naanep, Jong Ong, Benedict Ong and Kring Zulaybar opened The Pig in the Sea just last October 28 this year. Its quirky name is actually a play on words which indicate that their restaurant specializes in South East Asian pork style, ere go the pig in the S.E.A.
Naturally, after finding out their specialization, we just had to ask for the dishes that we all thought were interesting in their menu.
First up, we got Pig’s Ears Crisp (PHP 195) and sure enough it truly was crispy! Hands down this dish is definitely my favorite. Tasty and crispy, each and every bite was as satisfying as the next.
Up next, we got served the Pork 2 Ways (PHP 295), made with pork cheeks, spareribs, coconut carrot puree, pickled radish and carrots, and sweet coffee caramel sauce. Grilled and fried, this dish showed us how flexible pork can be!
If I were to pick my second favorite dish, it would have to be the Mussel Pig (260). It is a creative mix of savory meatball mussels paired with tasty shredded pork belly, and topped with squash blossom with pepper tofu on the side.
Their Salted Egg Salmon (PHP 320) is lip-smackingly flavorful! It’s made with fresh salmon, super tasty salted egg and squash puree, glazed tomatoes, and oyster mushrooms.
The Seafood Surprise (PHP 350) is surprisingly a sensational seafood delight! It’s made with prawns, squid, bacon, Enoki, quail eggs, basil and Rendang sauce. If you thought pork and seafood can’t mix, try this dish and think again!
For dessert, we got served the Ube Bread Pudding (PHP 95). Made with ube yam, bread, ube whipped cream, and peanuts, this palatable dessert provided a sweet end to our pork and seafood journey.
After feasting like delectably unique pork and seafood dishes, we washed it all down with refreshing, thirst-quenching, home-made Cucumbasil (PHP 98) made with fresh cucumber, basil, and lemon.
