Azabu by Chef Toshi (previously Washoku de Azabu) is a hidden gem in Greenhills as it is literally hidden in plain sight. Located on the second floor on top of a car dealership, looking like a furniture store from the outside because of their stylish shelves and decor. Azabu boasts a minimalist design that promotes nouveau Japanese culture. Originally 100% Japanese cuisine, Azabu switched it up to cater to a wider audience by adding Asian fusion by Chef Toshi to their menu.
Their Cobb Salad (P380) looks like art on a plate–and it tastes as good as it looks!
The Chirashi Sushi (P690) is bright and colorful! It’s made of sushi rice with a variety of fresh, high quality sashimi (uni, sake, ikura and ika among other things) mixed in.
Meant to be eaten in one bite, Azabu’s Foie Gras with Daikon (P450) is a interesting take on a luxury food product made of the rich and delicate liver of a duck or goose that has been specially fattened, and sits on top of mild-flavored Korean daikon or winter radish.
The Ebi Tempura Moriawase (P420) is a combination of everything that tastes amazing when deep-fried tempura style!
The Mizutaki (P1250) is a chicken hot-pot dish in which chicken and vegetables are uncooked in unseasoned chicken broth and then dipped in tangy ponzu sauce. Their mizutaki is both succulent and healthy–perfect for those cold, rainy days.
Last but not least, their Matcha Zanzai with Matcha Roll (off-the-menu) is Chef Toshi’s experimental dessert treat which features Matcha ice cream sitting on top of creamy red bean soup, and paired with a sweet and velvety Matcha roll.
Overall, Azabu by Chef Toshi was a great culinary experience definitely worth going back to!
