It’s time to welcome Tokyo’s Rootote bags to Manila! Iconic for its multi-functional totes and backpacks, the famous Japanese brand is now in the Philippines, with its 1st branch located at The Block in SM North Edsa. You can also buy it online from Lazada.
Known in Japan for the innovation of a simple tote bag into a stylish and functional bag that fits an active lifestyle while highlighting Japanese street-style fashion, Rootote now has 14 stand-alone stores and are in more than 200 department stores all over Japan, along with stores in Taiwan, Thailand, Korea, Vietnam, and now in the Philippines.
Rootote offers a unique line-up of 2-way backpacks and tote bags that are fit for both men and women. Japanese influence is evident in every bag with fashion-forward style and practical design. The key selling idea behind the inner pockets–“Roo Pockets“–were inspired by kangaroo pockets.
Coupled with an anti-theft velcro opening, the side zippers allow you to reach for your stuff without having to remove your backpack. My khaki Rootote Ceotote 2-Way backpack was super convenient when I traveled to Tokyo last week!
Mainly made of polyester material, Rootote’s bags are water-repellent, able to take on any weather. (Tried and tested!) The plain exterior enables you to customize your bag with prints. My bag was hand-painted with acrylic by Joly Poa and Bea Araneta. While they did mostly pop art and florals, they relented after I begged them to do something tribal. We settled for a simple feather design on the front pocket. Thanks, ladies!
