Named after the tunnel maze built during the Vietnam War, Cu Chi Vietnamese Bar is reminiscent of Vietnam’s red light district analogously echoed by Miss Saigon’s Dreamland. The 70’s vibe oozes through the vintage posters, wall paintings and dim rouge lighting, best complemented with retro and/or funky music.
Cu Chi’s line-up varies based on the day of the week:
Tuesdays: Cu Chi Live Lounge – A different live act is featured every month.
Wednesdays: Stay Woke Wednesdays – Cu Chi partners up with local Hip Hop collective. Bawal Clan to feature two upcoming underground Hip Hop and R&B artists every week with DJ Pope Fiction leading the night.
Thursdays: Love House feat. Abdel Aziz – Feel-good, funky happy music all night!
Fridays: Phunk Factory feat. Soul Potion – Old-school Funk, Soul, Old-school Hip Hop and R&B.
Saturdays: Game On – Various DJs perform during Cu Chi’s game night featuring beer pong and other customized drinking games (cards, board games, etc.).
Apart from the awesome ambiance, Cu Chi boasts authentic, affordable Vietnamese dishes that are tasty AND healthy!
Having recently changed my lifestyle, I easily came to love the Goi Cuon or Fresh Spring Rolls (PHP 195) for their indubitable freshness, as well as the peanut sauce!
The Bun Cha or Mixed Noodle with Meat (PHP 230) was a pretty sizable meal for the price! The pork strips were surprisingly good!
By the time I got to the Pho Bo or Beef Noodle Soup (PHP 220), I had pretty much given up eating, but the soup was delicious! It’s a recipe that Cu Chi’s Vietnamese chef inherited from his mother.
I would definitely come back to Cu Chi, but not just for the food, but for the drinks and music as well. 10/10 would recommend this place to my friends!
