My latest Zomato invite was to Soban K-Town Grill in Alabang Town Center. (They already have a branch in Eastwood and will soon open a third branch in Greenbelt.) I have recently come to appreciate the awesomeness of Korean BBQ Grills, and Soban K-Town’s quality was superb. Among the four of us in a table, we shared the Premium BBQ Combo Set (PHP 2,200), which consisted of:
-180g Yangnyeom Tohsisal (Fresh USDA Choice Premium Marinated Beef)
-180g Pork Belly (Choice of any 2 flavors: Original, Fruity, Chili Bean, Soy Garlic, Wine, Doenjang)
-180g Dak Ganjeong (Caramelized Boneless Fried Chicken)
-1 Japchae (Stir-fried Korean Vermicelli Noodles)
-1 Pajeon (Traditional Korean Seafood Pancake)
-1 Gyeranjim (Egg Casserole)
-1 Half Gimbap (Korean Seaweed Rice Roll)
Each set is served with a maximum of 4 unlimited kimchi fried rice (convertible to plain rice), soup and 6 side dishes. While this was recommended for 3-4 persons, I’d say this feast could have served a group size of 6 persons!
The Yangnyeom Tohsisal (Premium Marinated Beef) was definitely high quality meat. The flavors we got for the Pork Belly were the bestsellers: Fruity (made with natural sweetness of fresh fruits) and Soy Garlic (Filipino BBQ-inspired).
We were served an additional order of Woo Samgyup—180g Fresh USDA Choice Beef Belly. We were so full by the end of the meal!
The Dak Ganjeong (Honey-glazed Fried Chicken) was good with the first bite, but it was nakakaumay because of the thick breading.
The Pajeon was fried to a crisp. Loved the texture! The ones I’ve had in the past weren’t this good! The Gimbap— or bibimbap-like sushi roll–and the Japchae were also nice. The Gyeranjim (Egg Casserole) was really fluffy and light! It was almost like eating 50% Japanese cheesecake and 50% chawanmushi. I hope that description helps!
For drinks I got the refreshing Lychee Shake (PHP 105). Good on a really hot day! Not too sweet either!
Before we said our goodbyes and left, we took a shot of Jinro Chamisul Fresh Soju (PHP 200 per bottle). Thank you, Soban K-town for inviting us to partake in this lovely Korean feast!
While I wasn’t able to take a picture of it, the Kimchi Fries (PHP 199) was actually the thing na super bumenta for me. Loved the interplay of cheese, fries and kimchi paste! Yuuuum! And I also saw a Korrito (PHP 180) in the menu somewhere. We didn’t get to try it, but I’m sure it’s awesome! Overall, worth the drive from Ortigas to Alabang!
