Born in Clarkesville, Indiana on February 17, 1993, Texas Roadhouse now has over 450 restaurants across the globe and has finally made its way to the Philippines c/o The Bistro Group! Its first branch in Metro Manila opened its doors last April 28, 2016 in the new BGC Uptown Mall.
NOT to be confused with Wild West Roadhouse Grill, this Tex-Mex chain has some signature features of its own beyond the rustic interior. Texas Roadhouse plays country music, the servers do a line dance every few hours, and it once had a mechanical bull! It also takes pride in the fact that everything is fresh. Ingredients are made from scratch daily, and their meats are freshly cut, not frozen. (5 cuts of premium meat: Sirloin, Filet Medallions, Dallas Filet, Ft. Worth Rib-eye, and Bone-in Rib-eye.) To top this off, the complimentary Bread Roll with Cinnamon Butter is replaced every 5 minutes if not consumed! It’s really soft and fluffy!
Starters and Salad
We began this culinary adventure with an explosion of savor from the Combo Appetizer, a platter containing samples of 3 different starters.
-Rattlesnake Bites: Rounds of diced jalapenos and jack cheese, hand-battered and lightly fried. Goes well with Ranch dressing.
-Potato Skins: Potato skins topped with cheddar cheese and bacon. Goes well with Sour Cream.
-Buffalo Wings: Fried golden brown chicken wings tossed in Texas Roadhouse wing sauce. Goes well with Bleu Cheese dip.
The Rattlesnake Bites and the Potato Skins were really cheesy and tasty, and the Buffalo Wings were super tender! nomnomnom
We also had the Grilled Chicken Salad. The lettuce and croutons were crisp, and the chicken was really tender.
Pork Chops, Beef Steak Tips and Shrimp (PHP 1,295)
Grilled Shrimp: Two skewers of seasoned grilled shrimp drizzled with garlic and lemon pepper butter. Really fresh and “crunchy”! The seasoning was just right.
Grilled Bone-in Pork Chops: Seasoned and served with peppercorn sauce. Really tender and juicy!
Beef Steak Tips: Tender pieces of steak with sauteed mushrooms and onions in a made-from-scratch brown gravy, served with seasoned rice or mashed potatoes.
Our mains came with photogenic sides like the Baked Potato loaded with cheddar cheese and sour cream, and Sweet Potato loaded with S’mores. Instagram-worthy and satisfyingly good! zomg
The coup de grâce was the dessert. The Frozen Turtle Pie was a winner!
The Strawberry Cheesecake was good too!
Texas Roadhouse also takes pride in its Frozen Margaritas, which comes in an array of flavors. I was able to the Sangria Frozen Margarita, and I found it to be sufficiently tart with a mild spike of alcohol. Very refreshing!
Overall a really good meal! I take comfort in this kind of food. Definitely coming back for more!
